We often have clients that come to us with a lender already in mind.This may be a family friend, the bank that they’ve been using since they grew up, or a mortgage broker they met at a social gathering.
While our clients often ask if we have a lender we can recommend (we can recommend a few) we’re also often asked what the advantage is to using one lender over the other.The reality of it is that most Scottsdale Realtors are fine with you using any lender of your choosing but generally recommend that you use a lender that you know can close the deal. We’ve seen many times, especially with out of state lenders, where they’re not familiar with Arizona real estate and how the transaction works. This leads to a tremendous amount of headache for you, the buyer.
f you’re going to use a lender outside of Arizona be sure to ask about how many loans they’ve closed in Arizona real estate transactions. In general, single person houses are easier for lenders to close than if you purchase a luxury condo such as Optima Camelview Condos. Also, conventional loans are generally easier for lenders to close than FHA, VA, or other government backed loan programs. Keep in mind that lenders will often match each others’ interest rates so if you’re thinking about going with a lender that might not have as solid of a reputation because of a lower interest rate it’s probably worth asking the one you trust more if they’d be willing to match the lower interest rate.
