It's no secret that one of the biggest reason people all over the world love Scottsdale is the golf courses. Scottsdale, Arizona is home to some of the best golf courses in the country, and the biggest golf tournament in the world, the Waste Management Phoenix Open, is played at the Champions TPC Scottsdale!
The other great thing about Scottsdale golf courses is the number of houses that sit near or on the golf course! Scottsdale residents love the beautiful fairway and green views, set along the backdrop of Pinnacle Peak, McDowell Mountain and/or Camelback Mountain. Golf course properties are among the most popular real estate purchases for snowbirds, and with such a strong tourist presence, homes on Scottsdale golf courses make great real estate investments.
We love helping our clients find the perfect golf course home in Scottsdale AZ, and we would love to help you too!

You will find nearly 30 golf courses scattered throughout the Greater Scottsdale area with a diverse array of styles, landscaping, and amenities. There is also a nice mix of public, private, semi-private, resort, and executive courses to choose from. This diversity makes it easy for Scottsdale residents and visitors to find the perfect golf courses for their needs and preferences.
Scottsdale's two executive golf courses, Continental Golf Club and Coronado Golf Course, are located within a few miles of each other in Old Town and South Scottsdale, respectively. These golf courses are much shorter than a traditional 18-hole golf course, and are ideal for junior golfers and beginners. Each golf course has homes, condos, near or within a one-mile drive of the clubhouse, and as the downtown area continues to grow in popularity, demand for golf course homes in this area will rise as well.
As we expand beyond the heart of Old Town, the golf course communities also move up in stature and popularity. Scottsdale's only municipal golf course, Scottsdale Silverado Golf Course, is located near the intersection of Indian Bend and Hayden Road. There are also two popular 36-hole golf facilities within a short drive of Silverado: McCormick Ranch, and Talking Stick Golf Club.
Although both golf facilities are just a few miles from each other, they are very different in terms of real estate. McCormick Ranch features 36-holes of fun championship golf, and the homes, condos, and casitas in McCormick Ranch are some of the most popular subdivisions in all of Scottsdale. Conversely, Talking Stick Golf Club is the only golf facility in Scottsdale within the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, and although there are no homes on property, you will find a variety of beautiful homes within a mile on the opposite side of the AZ Loop 101.
The Central Scottsdale area has one private golf club at Gainey Ranch. This exclusively guard gated golf community also features a beautiful clubhouse, amazing fine dining, and a variety of club activities for members of all ages.
Just near the border of what locals would consider North Scottsdale is the original Scottsdale Country Club, which is now known as Starfire Golf Club. Their 27-hole Arnold Palmer designed golf course provides a fun playing experience, and the community is filled with plenty of great homes and condos overlooking the well-maintained grounds.
Once you reach Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd and the 101, you are among the heavy hitters in Scottsdale golf courses. Not only do these golf courses host (or hosted) the best golfers in the world, many of the PGA Tour and LPGA Tour's best make their homes here. The aforementioned TPC Scottsdale is actually a 36-hole facility, and is surrounded by pristine luxury real estate, including golf casitas which are perfect for short-term rentals.
As you head further north, the golf courses become more exclusive and more exquisite. The Estancia Club is ranked as one of the top 100 courses in America, and is widely known as the best golf course in all of Arizona. Other notable exclusive private golf courses in the area include Whisper Rock, Troon Country Club, and Terravita. However, if you're looking for the Disneyland of Scottsdale private country clubs, Desert Mountain is the perfect community for you. Luxury real estate nestled within an incredible array of six (6) 18-hole Jack Nicklaus-designed golf courses, Desert Mountain is a golfer's Elysium.
Private country clubs are nice, but many Scottsdale golfers prefer public, daily rate golf courses. Luckily, North Scottsdale has plenty of amazing public golf courses to choose from. The most popular public golf course in North Scottsdale is Troon North (which must not be mistaken for Troon CC), with 36-holes that are routinely ranked in the top 5 of Arizona golf courses. Legend Trail is another popular public golf course with an annual pass option, and Grayhawk Golf Club is another North Scottsdale gem that has hosted a PGA Tour event as well.
Each of these North Scottsdale golf courses are enhanced with amazing homes, townhomes, patio homes, and condos, perfect for a winter retreat or for year-round living!
With so many amazing golf courses in Scottsdale, finding the right home at the right golf course can be a relatively daunting task. Even if it is a golf course you have played before and absolutely love, buying a home is a completely different process. We want to make the process easier, so we compiled a few of our favorite subdivisions and communities near or on a Scottsdale golf course. This list isn't comprehensive, but it can serve as a simple guide map to narrow your search and find the home you will LOVE!
Single family homes and patio homes are incredibly popular near Continental Golf Club. If you want to enjoy beautiful golf course views while living within a 5-minute drive of Old Town, stat your search at Scottsdale Estates and Sunrise/Sunscape Villas.
Central Scottsdale isn't as densely populated as Old Town, which makes it perfect for families and couples who love homes with larger lots and great mountain views. Gainey Ranch is ideal for those interested in a luxury gated community and a private golf course, while Scottsdale Country Club East and McCormick Ranch make sense for golf enthusiasts who prefer public golf.
When it comes to choosing a great golf course home, narrowing your search is hardest in North Scottsdale: the selection and options are too numerous to count. It's not as easy as choosing between public and private; the private golf courses feature a wide spectrum of services and amenities.
If you are looking for the very best in private golf and want to rub elbows with Tour golfers, the best places to look are Whisper Rock and Estancia. Interested in a secluded golf oasis with some of the most challenging courses in the Southwest? Check out Desert Mountain. Lastly, if you enjoy public golf with an option for membership, Troon North has everything you need.
